Clare O'Brien, a honey judge from Reading, gave an interesting, informative and inspiring talk at the Hog Roast entitled 'Honey show. Have a go'. She demonstrated a wide variety of honey and beeswax products suitable to enter into a Honey Show. Some of these included pickles, chutneys, vinegars, fruit sauces and jams, mead, preserved nuts, and a large array of wax products from candles to wax bowls, cosmetics and furniture polish. The talk gave ideas for not only entering shows , but also great items to sell and give as presents.
Mendlesham Heritage Fair
On 6 May, we took part in the Mendlesham Heritage fair. This was a very well organised and attended event where we were able to talk about beekeeping, roll candles and sell our produce. A profitable day for the Treasurer!
Annual General Meeting
A well attended AGM was held on 5 Feb, followed by an excellent talk on the Asian Hornet by Jane Corcoran, plus we made AH monitoring stations and distributed a free dose of Trappit bait.
A very pleasant afternoon at Richard Martin’s farm for President’s Day. The event was well attended and enjoyed by all. Thank You Richard and Kathryn!
We did not take part in the Bacton Fayre on Saturday 5 August due to the inclement weather
2024 Hog Roast
Another very successful annual Hog Roast on Sunday 16th July, hosted by our treasurer Andy Smith and his lovely wife Jan.
Tasty food and drink, great company and the weather was kind!
